This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our platform, website, and related services (collectively, the "Service"). If you have any questions or concerns about this policy, please contact us at legal@nexfix.com. By using the Service, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy.

- Profile Information: Professional bio, service categories, license numbers, insurance status, and ratings.
- Location Data: Approximate or precise geographic location when you submit a service request or enable location detection in the browser. This data is used to match you with nearby technicians and display maps via Google Maps API.

3. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect for the following purposes:
- To create and manage your account.
- To match homeowners with qualified technicians based on service category, location, and availability.
- To process and display service requests, quotes, and job completions.
- To facilitate real-time communication between homeowners and technicians.
- To provide AI-powered features including description improvement, photo analysis, chat-based assistance, and cost estimation via Anthropic's Claude models.
- To verify technician credentials, categories, and company information.
- To send transactional emails (confirmations, alerts, password resets) via Resend.
- To display maps and location-based features via Google Maps API.
- To analyze usage patterns, improve our platform, and develop new features.
- To prevent fraud, enforce our Terms of Service, and comply with legal obligations.
- To send promotional communications where you have consented to receive them.
4. Image Upload and AI Processing
When you upload photos as part of a service request, those images are: (a) Stored securely in our cloud storage (Supabase Storage); (b) Transmitted to Anthropic, PBC via their API for automated AI analysis to identify the problem, suggest service categories, and estimate urgency and cost; (c) Shared with technicians who view your service request. AI analysis of your photos is automated and does not involve human review by NexFix staff unless required for safety or legal compliance. AI estimates are for informational purposes only and do not constitute a professional engineering, construction, or home inspection assessment. See Section 7 for details on Anthropic's data practices and our AI Disclaimer for full limitations.
5. Location Data
Location information is collected only when you explicitly: (a) Enter an address manually in a service request; (b) Click "Use My Location" to enable browser geolocation. We use the Google Maps API to geocode addresses, display maps, and calculate approximate distances. Your location data is used solely to connect you with technicians in your area and is not sold to third parties. You may disable geolocation in your browser settings at any time without affecting your ability to use the Service (you may enter your address manually instead).
6. Sharing Your Information
We may share your information with:
- Technicians: Homeowners' service request details, address, photos, and contact information are shared with technicians who submit or accept quotes.
- Homeowners: Technicians' name, company name, service categories, ratings, and quote details are shared with homeowners.
- Service Providers: We use Supabase (database and authentication), Google Maps API (location services), Resend (transactional email), Anthropic, PBC (AI features — see Section 7), and Vercel (hosting). These providers process data on our behalf under confidentiality agreements.
- Legal Compliance: We may disclose information if required by law, court order, or governmental authority, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of NexFix, our users, or the public.
- Business Transfers: In the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, user data may be transferred to the acquiring entity.
- With Your Consent: For any other purpose with your explicit consent.
7. Third-Party AI Services
NexFix uses artificial intelligence services provided by Anthropic, PBC ("Anthropic"), whose Claude models power the following platform features: (a) Image analysis: Photos you upload with service requests are sent to Anthropic's API to identify problems, assess urgency, and suggest service categories; (b) Chat-based assistance: AI-powered support chat and repair recommendations are processed by Anthropic's Claude models, which receive the text of your queries and relevant context about your service request; (c) Description improvement and cost estimation: Text descriptions you provide may be processed by Anthropic to generate enhanced summaries and estimated cost ranges. Data transmitted to Anthropic includes uploaded photos, text descriptions of your repair issues, conversational messages with AI features, and contextual service request information (category, urgency, and similar metadata). We do not transmit your name, email address, account credentials, or payment information to Anthropic's AI models. Anthropicprocesses this data in accordance with their API usage policies and Privacy Policy, available at https://www.anthropic.com/legal/privacy. Under our API agreement with Anthropic, content submitted through the API is not used to train their models by default. All transmissions to Anthropic occur over encrypted connections (TLS). AI outputs generated by Anthropic's models are automated and probabilistic — they may be inaccurate, incomplete, or inapplicable to your specific situation. AI-generated analyses, estimates, and recommendations are not professional assessments and must be verified with a qualified technician before making any repair decisions. If you have questions or concerns about how Anthropic handles data, we encourage you to review their Privacy Policy at https://www.anthropic.com/legal/privacy.
8. Data Retention
We retain your personal data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. Upon account deletion: (a) Your profile data is removed within 30 days; (b) Service request records and messages may be retained for up to 7 years for legal, dispute resolution, and fraud prevention purposes; (c) Anonymized, aggregated data may be retained indefinitely for analytics. For complete details, including how AI-processed data is handled, see our Data Retention Policy.
9. Cookies and Tracking Technologies
We use cookies and similar tracking technologies to maintain session state, remember preferences, and analyze usage. You may control cookies through your browser settings. For full details, see our Cookie Policy.

If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us at legal@nexfix.com and we will delete the information promptly.
14. Security
We implement industry-standard security measures including encryption in transit (TLS), encrypted password storage via Supabase Auth (bcrypt), row-level security policies in the database, and access controls limiting data access to authorized personnel. However, no method of transmission over the Internet or electronic storage is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security.
15. Third-Party Links
The Service may contain links to third-party websites or services, including links to Anthropic's privacy policy referenced in this document.
